STOCKHOLM -- Troopers say the woman who was injured when she crashed her car on state Route 11C told investigators she was swerving to avoid an animal in the road.
Nanci Strunk, 50, of Norfolk was traveling west on the highway when a small animal of “unknown species” entered the road from the north shoulder, police said Strunk told them.
She told police she tried to avoid the animal, lost control of her car, crossed the eastbound lane, exited the south shoulder and came to rest in a patch of small trees, troopers said.
Complaining of pain to her chest and having sustained an abrasion to her hand, Strunk was transported from the scene by Tri-Town Rescue to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, troopers said.
She has since been released, according to CPH.
Strunk was not charged, troopers said.
