CANTON -- Traffic is flowing again under the railroad overpass on Route 11 just north of the village, after flooding forced police to redirect vehicles.
A section of the route from State Highway 68 to the Cowan Road was closed this afternoon due to the flooding and St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies were still detouring traffic southbound on Route 11 onto the Cowan Road as late as 4:25 p.m., according to motorists.
But shortly before 5 p.m., traffic began traveling again on Route 11, and motorists said they only noticed mud under the underpass.
Earlier, multiple vehicles were reported stranded due to the high water level, but troopers said there were no accidents.
The New York State Department of Transportation was also on scene redirecting traffic, according to troopers.
Authorities urged motorists to bypass the village.
