POTSDAM -- The Town of Potsdam plans on officially abandoning an old unused town road and selling it and the land around it.
The Ireland Road lot, with a short section of road off Crosbie Road between Norwood and Madrid, was used as a town gravel pit at one time, but not for some years.
The 9.6 acre lot is currently assessed at $15,000 but Assessor Jim McGuire says it will be reassessed to reflect fair market value, which he believes is about $4,760.
The lot will be put up for bid when the preliminary work is done.
