MASSENA -- The Town of Massena and the Teamsters union, which represents town employees, are in a legal feud, Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said at Wednesday’s board meeting.
The union argues that the town should have negotiated before installing security cameras in the town hall and public library.
“They say cameras that monitor work areas are subject to negotiation,” Gray said. “Our argument is we’re monitoring public spaces … our objective is to provide safety in the building.”
He said the union has filed an improper practice charge with the state Employment Relations Board.
