MASSENA -- The town will drop the asking price for the former Massena Museum building after getting no offers at its appraised value. Meanwhile, they are considering a handicap ramp at the new Philibert Cultural Center and Museum.
It was initially listed at $135,000 and they are going down to $99,000.
The board voted 4-0-1 to change the price with Councilman Samuel Carbone abstaining. He works with a local realtor.
They are also trying to find a realtor to list the building. Gray said he doesn’t believe they need a request for proposals.
He also said he wants a new handicap ramp at the new town museum, the Celine G. Philibert Cultural Center and Museum on Main Street.
As it is right now, there is no direct access from the handicap spots in the back to its rear entrance.
“I think we should make that accessible as soon as possible,” Gray said, adding that the highway department said a ramp won’t present an obstacle to snow removal.
