PITCAIRN – Three people were treated for smoke inhalation as firefighters from six departments were battling a house fire Sunday at 155 County Route 23.
A woodstove is being blamed for the fire which caused extensive damaged to the house owned by Tracy Berckley.
The Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department responded at 11:18 a.m. and the Edwards, Fine, Star Lake, Hermon and Newton falls fire departments provided mutual aid.
The Edwards and Harrisville rescue squads also responded to the scene, as did National Grid and the Pitcairn code enforcement officer.
The DeGrasse and Cranberry Lake fire departments were on standby during the blaze. The American Red Cross was notified, investigators said.
Harrisville firefighters returned to the station at 1:45 p.m.
Fire investigators said the home was not insured. Officials said Berckley lived there with one other person.
