Three bills sponsored by state Senator Patty Ritchie have been signed into law.

The bills signed by the governor include:

• S4054-A – Allows the sale of frozen desserts with wine. “With this law in place, businesses will be able to develop new products like sherbets and sorbets using wine which will potentially expand the market for New York produced wine,” Ritchie said. The bill was sponsored in the Assembly by Agriculture Committee Chairman Bill Magee.

• S4080 – Reduces requirements on grocery stores selling food items for the number of scales for customer use. The bill was sponsored in the Assembly by Assemblyman Magee.

• S4415 – Allows the Jefferson County District Attorney to hire a stenographer when needed from outside of the county. The bill was sponsored in the Assembly by member Addie Russell.

Ritchie, a Republican from Heuvelton, is in her first term as a state senator. She represents the 48th District.
