MASSENA -- A third person has been charged in connection with an alleged burglary and assault that took place in the village earlier in the month.

On Friday, village police charged Jamie S. Montoya, 19, of 151 Frogtown Road, Hogansburg with second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. He was also charged with third-degree assault and second-degree menacing, misdemeanors, police said.

Montoya, along with Schuyler L. Mitchell, 19, of 192 Center St. Apt. 2, Massena and Dillon M. LaTray, 19, of 7 Middlebury Ave., Massena are accused of breaking into 2 Willow St. Apt. 302 and dragging out an occupant. They brandished what investigators say was a BB gun that resembled a pistol. Court officials said the suspects kicked and stomped the victim in the face and struck him in the face with the BB gun, causing injuries.

Montoya was charged with the additional weapons felony for possessing a gravity knife at the time of his arrest, police said.

He was arraigned Friday in Massena court by judge Joe Brown and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Mitchell and LaTray were arraigned in Massena court and remanded in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond, police said at the time of their arrests.
