CANTON – The third annual Terry Martin Pride's Corner Tournament will be held at the Canton Pavilion, Lincoln Street, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 20 and 21, with tours of the SUNY Canton’s new athletic facility, a pre-game reception, and the men's ice hockey tournament highlighting the weekend's events.
Before the first puck drops, attendees are invited to a tour from noon to 2 p.m. of the new Convocation, Athletic and Recreation Center, nicknamed Roos House, including the new ice arena. The tour will leave from French Hall. From 2 to 4 p.m., there will be a pregame reception at Sergi's Banquet Hall, 31 Main St.
The games:
• Saturday, Nov. 20, 5 p.m.: SUNY Canton vs. SUNY Oswego
• Saturday, Nov. 20, 8 p.m.: John Carroll University vs. Cornell University
• Sunday, Nov. 21, Noon: Consolation game
• Sunday, Nov. 21, 3 p.m.: Championship game
Terry Martin, the tournament's namesake, was SUNY Canton’s head men's ice hockey coach from 1974-1999, compiling a record of 527-211-29, including a 102-11-8 mark in his final four seasons. His team won 12 national championship titles during his career. He was the 2009 recipient of the American Hockey Coaches Association's prestigious John "Snooks" Kelley Founders Award, recognizing the effect Martin had on the collegiate sport.
