Team from Potsdam places second at Associated Schools of Construction event downstate

POTSDAM -- The Clarkson Construction Engineering Management (CEM) Design-Build competition team placed second, besting all but one of the seven teams that competed in this category during the 28th Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 1 event in Albany last month.

The ASC Region 1 competition challenges construction students from across the Northeastern U.S. to a pressure cooker of scheduling, estimating, constructability analysis and knowledge of the construction industry.

This year Clarkson sent teams in three categories, one in Heavy Civil Construction, one in Pre-Construction Services, and one in Design Build.

Faculty, including Clarkson’s Bill Olsen (design-build), Jared Heinl (pre-construction) and Jim Billings (heavy-civil), support the students as coaches prior to competition.

This is the second time a Clarkson team has placed in the top two in the last two years of regional competition, continuing to demonstrate the excellence of the Clarkson CEM undergraduate experience.
