POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's 2011 Bachelor's Commencement Ceremony will be held outside in its traditional location in the Academic Quad at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 22.

SUNY Potsdam President Dr. John Schwaller has decided to hold the ceremony outside, and not to use the rain plan. The forecast for Sunday currently calls for the day to be partly sunny, with highs in the lower 70s and a 20 percent chance of rain.

The ceremony is expected to last about two hours, with 652 bachelor's graduates expected to turn their tassels and toss their caps.

Allen Schoer, Class of '71, founder and CEO of The TAI Group, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters in recognition of his career as an actor, consultant and entrepreneur at the ceremony. Schoer will also deliver the keynote address.

The 2011 Master's Commencement Ceremony will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 in Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music. 181 graduate students are expected to cross the stage and receive their master's degrees at this ceremony.

Dr. William J. Amoriell, Class of '68, Dean Emeritus of The School of Education and Professional Studies, will serve as the featured keynote speaker for the master's ceremony.
