New York, Ontario and Quebec police will participate in “Safety Without Borders” Friday, which New York State Police describe as “a highly visible traffic safety enforcement initiative that emphasizes the shared goal of safe roadways regardless of jurisdictions.”
Law enforcement will be concentrating on the offences that result in the greatest contribution to serious and sometimes fatal collisions, with particular attention to impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, Move-Over Law and improper seat belt use.
This is the third Safety Without Borders initiative conducted during 2014.
Participating agencies issued nearly 3,000 tickets during the campaigns in April and June of this year. There were no fatal accident investigations during the initiatives, which is the intent of this partnership.
Also participating are Vermont State Police, Maine State Police, and New Hampshire State Police.
