State Senators Ritchie and Griffo endorse Doheny for Congress

Citing his pro-growth and gun rights policies, state Senators Patty Ritchie and Joe Griffo have endorsed Matt Doheny for Congress in the North Country’s 21st District.

"Matt Doheny understands what it means to be from the North Country and he'll be a strong advocate to defend the jobs we already have at Fort Drum and throughout the region, and he'll bring home the tools and investment we need to create even more opportunity,” said Ritchie, a Heuvelton Republican who represents the western half of St. Lawrence County including Ogdensburg, Canton and Gouverneur.

“He'll be a great partner in building a better and stronger future for the North Country," Ritchie said.

"Matt Doheny and I share similar beliefs: We both support pro-growth policies that reduce red tape on businesses, support lower taxes and responsible budgeting and oppose bills that impinge on our Second Amendment rights,” said Griffo, a Rome Republican whose Senate district includes a swath of St. Lawrence County from Massena and Brasher in the north to the south-central area, including Potsdam.

“He will be a great advocate for our area in Washington, and I'm pleased to give him my support," Griffo said.

"I'm so proud to have their support, we share a deep commitment to the region and if elected I will be their partner in Washington fighting for jobs and investment for the North Country," Doheny said.

He is a Watertown Republican who faces Elise Stefanik of Willsboro in a GOP primary next week to pick the party’s candidate for the November general election.

Griffo and Ritchie are expected to run again this year for their respective seats in the state Senate.
