OSWEGATCHIE – State police have identified an Ogdensburg man who drowned in the St. Lawrence River in Morristown Tuesday.
Roderick F. Brown, 56, drowned Tuesday while swimming with two friends in the river.
St. Lawrence County 911 received a phone call at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday that a body was floating in the river.
State police responded and found two females were performing CPR on Brown when they arrived. Morristown Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene.
Brown was not resuscitated and was pronounced dead after being taken to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
State police say Brown drowned, but they are not sure of contributing factors at this time. They say there are no signs of foul play and an autopsy is pending.
Troopers say the investigation remains open until the autopsy is complete.
