The New York State Police are launching a series of online question-and-answer sessions using social media.
The troopers have been hosting “Twitter Town Halls” on the division’s official Twitter page.
During the sessions, Twitter followers are able to ask a question using the NYSP Twitter handle, @nyspolice.
A state police member who has been designated for the Twitter Town Hall topic then answers the question using the followers handle and the hashtag #NYSPTTH.
State police are also posting relevant tips and statistics on Twitter throughout the hour-long question and answer session.
Upcoming Twitter Town Hall topics and guests include:
Thursday, Jan. 22 - Special Operations and Response Team (NYSP SWAT Team)
Thursday, Jan. 29 - School and Community Outreach Coordinator
Thursday, Feb. 5 - NYSP Dive Team (SCUBA)
Thursday, Feb. 12 - Winter Preparedness Tips
Thursday, Feb. 19 - CCSERT (Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team)
To alert followers of the week’s Twitter Town Hall topic, troopers are posting videos and still photos on the division’s social media pages. Posted the day before and day of a Twitter Town Hall, the videos and photos also allow the week’s featured member to introduce themselves to the public.
