OGDENSBURG – With renovations to the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Emergency Department underway people other than ED patients are being asked to use the King Street entrance.
Beginning Thursday, May 26, a temporary wall will be constructed to allow for the remodeling of the to be complete.
“From now on, only ED patients should use the entrance located on our ambulance ramp,” said Julianne Sciorra, director of emergency services at Claxton-Hepburn.
“We ask that all other hospital patients and visitors enter through the main entrance off King Street.”
The construction is expected to be completed by the end of August. Improvements being made to the Emergency Department include a triage station staffed with a Registered Nurse at the ED entrance to greet and assess patients as they enter the ED, a private area for families to wait, and an improved treatment area for mental health patients. Additionally, the ED will implement an electronic medical record system.
“We appreciate your patience with us as we renovate our ED,” Sciorra added. “We hope to minimize any inconvenience to our patients.”
