St. Regis Mohawk police charge two with possessing cocaine, pills after traffic stops

AKWESASNE -- Two people were recently jailed after being charged felony drug counts following traffic stops.

On Oct. 7, police charged Peter B. Zimmerman, 20, of Haley Drive, Canton with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, four counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, all felonies. He was also charged with possession of a prescription outside its original container and two counts each of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in Bombay Town Court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $4,000 bail or $8,000 bond and was to have reappeared Oct. 10.

The Franklin County District Attorney’s Office said Zimmerman was charged after being pulled over for failure to keep right on Cook Road at 5:53 p.m. that day. Police allegedly found him in possession of two oxycodone pills, three hydromorphone pills, one temazepam pill, eight 30 mg amphetamine pills, three 20 mg amphetamine pills, a mortar and pestle with cocaine residue, a small quantity of cocaine, digital scale and multiple small plastic bags and 25 ounces of marijuana, the DA’s office said.

On Oct. 19, police charged Elisha E. King, 28, of Frogtown Road, Hogansburg with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and prescription outside original container, misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

She was arraigned in Bombay Town Court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail, Malone in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond and was to have re-appeared Oct. 24.

Police arrested her after a traffic stop on state Route 95 in Bombay, the DA’s office said. She allegedly possessed five oxycodone pills, a pipe with marijuana residue and 2.2 grams of cocaine in five baggies and a sixth baggie with cocaine residue, according to prosecutors.
