People who are not now registered to vote in St. Lawrence County but would like to register in time for the Nov. 8 general election have until Saturday, Oct. 15 at 9 p.m.
That is for people who go to the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections office, on the second floor of the county Human Services Building at 80 State Highway 310 in Canton.
People may register in person at the office during regular office hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus on two evenings they will stay open late, until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 and on that Saturday, Oct. 15 until 9 p.m., the last chance to register in time to vote on Election Day.
Those times are for new registrations in St. Lawrence County.
Those who wish to register a change of address within St. Lawrence County to be in effect on Election Day have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 at the office, but Democratic Elections Commissioner Jennie Bacon would encourage people not to wait that long.
To register by Post Office mail in time for the election, an application must be postmarked no later than Oct. 14.
To get a voter registration form, call the Board of Elections at 379-2202, or visit any post office, town or village clerk, or find one online at http://www.elections.ny.gov/NYS-Voter-Registration-Form.html.
