The St. Lawrence County Trappers Association will sponsor teenagers attending Department of Environmental Conservation summer camps in 2015.
DEC operates three residential camps for campers ages 11-12; Camp Colby in Saranac Lake, Franklin County; Camp DeBruce in Livingston Manor, Sullivan County and Camp Rushford in Caneadea, Allegany County.
The Pack Forest Program of environmental study is now available at Camp Rushford and designed for ages 14-17.
DEC education camp staff guide campers through a week of activities that take them to fields, forests, streams, ponds and more as they observe wildlife, debate environmental issues, sample streams for microscopic wildlife and explore the night sky.
Campers can pursue interests including fishing, bird watching, canoing, hiking and hunter safety education.
If you would like the trappers to sponsor a weeklong stay at one of the camps, contact Jim Aubrey at 389-5096 by Jan. 7.
A letter stating why you are interested in attending should be received by SLCTA, P.O. Box 148, Canton, NY 13617 by the Jan. 7 deadline.
