CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was notified today by a private citizen of a potential telephone scam involving the use of the name National Diabetes Association.
The caller tried many times, in many ways over the course of several calls, to get Social Security and Medicaid information and identification numbers from her, said Diane Crump of Hopkinton.
Crump said the alleged business was offering free diabetes equipment and medical supplies.
The Sheriff's Office reminds citizens that no legitimate agency will ask for this type of information over the telephone.
