St. Lawrence County received $25,284 in judicial settlements from public assistance fraud cases in December.
Investigators from the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services and the District Attorney’s Office say the investigations leading to the settlements focused on offenses including welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing, unlawful use of a benefit card, forgery and other state law violations.
Officials say further investigations are ongoing.
