St. Lawrence County job fair set for Thursday, May 26 in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG – Sen. Patty Ritchie’s St. Lawrence County Job Fair will be held Thursday, May 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free event will take place at the Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center, 141 West River St., and will feature nearly 40 employers

“When it comes to landing a new job, face-to-face contact with prospective employers often times can be key,” Ritchie said.

Ritchie represents the 48th Senate District, which includes all of the northern edge of St. Lawrence County from Massena to Hammond, and Ogdensburg, Canton and Gouverneur. It extends into Jefferson and Oswego counties.

Ritchie says she is encouraging those looking to enter the workforce, or for a career change to attend her job fair.

“Through this event, job-seekers will have an opportunity to talk personally with dozens of local employers, many of which are looking to hire right away,” she said. “I’m hopeful that those who are looking for work, or just for a career change will take advantage of this great event.”

Those who are interested in attending can save time by preregistering on Senator Ritchie’s website, www.ritchie.nysenate.gov.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes with them and dress appropriately.

Businesses and organizations expected to attend include: Access-VR, Ansen Corporation, AVON, Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country, Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, Department of Labor, Fidelis Care, Gouverneur Hospital, Health Services of NNY, Inc., Electrical Workers IBEW Local 910, Laborers' Local #1822, Massena Independent Living and Massena Memorial Hospital.

Also attending will be New York State University Police, NYS Park Police, Penski, Inc., Princess House, River Hospital, St. Josephs Nursing Home, St. Lawrence County IDA, St. Lawrence County One Stop Career Center, St. Lawrence County Personell Office, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union and St. Lawrence NYSARC.

Also expected to join will be St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, SUNY Attain Lab-Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, SUNY Canton - Military & Veterans Student Services, SUNY Canton - Small Bus. Development Center, SUNY Potsdam – Admissions, SUNY Potsdam - Human Resources, T-Base Communications, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, United Healthcare, United Helpers, United States Air Force, United States Marine Corps, U.S. Army and Youth Advocate Programs.
