No big accumulations are expected, but the National Weather Service is warning of the possibility of heavy snow in St. Lawrence County for New Year’s Eve.
Those snow squalls will be moving in with an Arctic cold front which will drop temperatures for the rest of the week, with highs not getting back into the 20s until next Sunday.
The snow for New Year’s Eve tonight could be accompanied by southwest winds of 11 to 15 mph.

The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
• Today: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 31. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tonight: A 50 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 4am. The snow could be heavy at times. Cloudy, with a low around 10. Southwest wind 11 to 15 mph. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
•New Year's Day: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 12. Wind chill values as low as -3. West wind 7 to 10 mph.
• Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds, with a low around 2. Wind chill values as low as -8. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph.
• Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 14. West wind around 6 mph.
• Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -5.
• Thursday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 17.
• Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 3.
• Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 15.
