Areas of light snow continue today into tonight in the North Country and linger mainly in higher elevations by tonight into Friday before moving out Friday night, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Highs today will be in the mid 30s and in the upper 20s Friday.
Fair and cold weather returns Friday night into this weekend and through Monday as high pressure settles across the area from the north.
A chance of snow returns by the middle of next week.
The NWS forecast for the St. Lawrence County and the northwestern Adirondacks:
• Today: Light snow, mainly before noon, then a chance of snow showers after noon. High near 33. West wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Tonight: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 20. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Friday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27. West wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 17. West wind 8 to 11 mph.
• Saturday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 23. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 8. West wind 3 to 6 mph.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 25. West wind 3 to 7 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. Light and variable wind.
• Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. North wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 12. North wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph.
• Tuesday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Northeast wind around 7 mph.
• Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 32. North wind around 8 mph.
