Residents in the southern portion of St. Lawrence County could receive up to half a foot of snow by Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory from 7 p.m. tonight through 1 p.m. Saturday warning of lake effect snows totaling four to six inches in the Gouverneur area and five to ten inches in the Star Lake area.
In the northern part of the county, forecasters say there is a 60 percent of snow showers near Massena on Saturday. Accumulation should be one to two inches in that area, forecasters say.
Overnight temperatures are expected to go down to the lower 20s, with predicted highs on Saturday in lower 30s.
However, winds from southwest are expected at 5 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts up to 30 mph.
