CANTON – St. Lawrence County Sheriff Kevin Wells says his office is participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back campaign this month, in conjunction with the DEA.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Sheriff’s Office in the county Public Safety Building at 49½ Court St., will be collecting potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescriptions for destruction. Drugs can be turned over anonymously, Sheriff Wells said. Tablets, capsules and other medications will be accepted; needles or other intravenous paraphernalia will not.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage people to rid their households of unused prescription drugs, which constitute the nation’s fastest-growing drug abuse threat.
If you have questions about this initiative, you may call the sheriff’s office at 379-2365.
