POTSDAM – A second Facebook page has been created to help raise awareness for dogs that have been stolen in recent weeks across St. Lawrence County.

“As a animal lover and pet owner and rescuer, the recent theft of people's four-legged family members has me more than distraught and I am usually the passive one who doesn't plan things but decided to step out of my comfort zone and step up to do what I could to help,” said Dawn Davison who created the page.

She created the Facebook page called "Bring the Furbabies Home" in hopes of supporting the victims as a county wide community effort.

“The page is not getting the exposure we had all hoped, including one of the families who's dog was one of the 15 missing,” she said. “A lot of people like but not understanding that sharing is what we need as there needs to be exposure to get results.”

Davison is working on a Gofundme to raise the current reward being offered by the Humane Society Association and the St. Lawrence County sherrif's department.

“However it is hung up as I cannot proceed until I have a definite place for funds to be kept,” she said.

Davison said she is meeting with the treasurer of the humane society, but she has to run it by the board of directors.

“We are hoping to get the attention of those who are missing their dogs to post photos,” Davison said. “By doing that people know what the dogs that are missing look like and can keep an eye out for anything suspicious…a doggy Amber Alert per say.”

A Gofundme page linked to that Facebook page is also raising reward money for information leading to the arrest of whoever is allegedly taking the dogs. To donate, visit https://www.gofundme.com/xng67hzf.
