CANTON – Town animal control officer Jim Pipher plans to retire at the end of this year and the town board will soon begin the search for his replacement.
Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley said the town will be circulating a request for proposal to develop a pool of candidates to pick Pipher’s successor.
“Mr. Pipher has done a great job,” Ashley said.
The board is still drafting the RFP, said the supervisor.
In related news, the town renewed its contract with Dan Moyer of Gouverneur for dog pound services at his facility for the coming year.
Moyer has agreed to provide the service at a cost of $15 per dog, said Ashley.
