CANTON – The county Chamber of Commerce’s Visitor Information Center is adding Saturday hours to help visitors as well as locals take advantage of attractions in St. Lawrence County.

Beginning July 12, the chamber’s office and VIC at 101 Main St., Route 11, , will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in addition to weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chamber Executive Director Brooke Rouse explained the availability of information on nearby resources will help people find things to do for a family get-together, a back-road bicycle trip, or a “staycation.”

“Many people only have time on the weekends,” Rouse said, “and we recognize the need to be available for county residents and visitors alike. People are traveling, hosting visitors and looking for things to do on the weekends. We want to add value to their experience.”

The chamber office has a wide variety of free information, maps and guides that cover the entire county and region. Staff can assist anyone interested in planning outings for a family or class reunion, wedding or special celebration.

“We have materials to include in packets and resources to build itineraries,” Rouse said. “We can help someone with a general interest identify options so they can spend time enjoying their day, rather than planning.”

In addition to visitor materials, the chamber offers St. Lawrence County-branded clothing and hats, locally produced foods and gifts, books, and postcards for sale.
