OGDENSBURG -- Assemblywoman Addie J. Russell says Ogdensburg airport’s direct flights to Florida will make St. Lawrence County a gateway to the North Country.
“This is an opportunity not just for North Country residents and Canadians to get to Florida but for Floridians and snowbirds to get to the North Country. This venture is putting Ogdensburg in position to be the transportation hub of the international region and a major player in local tourism efforts,” she said.
Russell said the low-cost and direct link between Florida and the North Country will draw offer southern residents easy access to the areas natural attractions.
“From Ogdensburg, you can access the Thousand Islands, the St. Lawrence River and all of our smaller rivers and lakes as well as the Adirondacks. Travelers coming to Ogdensburg will also be exposed to our historic, artistic and culturally diverse communities,” she said.
Russell also praised the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority and others officials who helped the massive project come to fruition.
“We offer our congratulations to those who have made this happen, and we are certain the direct flights to Orlando-Sanford and Fort Lauderdale will be very popular with travelers flying in and out of the Ogdensburg airport.”
