CLARE -- St. Lawrence County sheriff's investigators arrested a Clare man July 25 at 3392 County Route 27 after responding to report of a burglary in progress at the residence.
Erik K. Martin, 38, of 3457 County Route 27, Russell, was charged with second-degree arson, second-degree burglary, and second-degree criminal mischief.
The sheriff's department said deputies located Martin inside the residence when they arrived on scene. He was subsequently taken into custody.
Martin was arraigned in Pierrepont town court, and then held on $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond bail at the county jail.
The sheriff's department was assisted at the scene by state police.
