CANTON -- The Reverend Joel Miller, interim minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 ½ East Main St., recently led a dedication ceremony for the new sign that stands on the front lawn of the church on East Main Street.
“It’s a classy sign that says ‘Here we are!’” Rev. Miller said to the congregants gathered for the dedication. “But it's also a symbol of centuries of courage--the courage to welcome all people when the world around us tells us not to. The courage to love our people for who they are even when that's hard to do.”
Rev. Miller’s words of dedication went on to say that the sign tells people “We are here, to be a fierce and gentle witness, to welcome you and to work for peace for all people. I see it as a symbol that we respect the courage of those who see the sign and come to visit us for that first time.”
The Unitarian Universalist Church holds Sunday morning services and religious education for children and youth beginning at 10:30 a.m.
