Remington's Juried Art Show on display in Ogdensburg, some prizes awarded

OGDENSBURG - The Frederic Remington Art Museum's 2011 Members' Juried Art Exhibition is open in the museum's Richard E. Winter Gallery and Torrey Family Gallery.

Some prizes have been awarded, and voting for favorites is underway.

The public is invited to view the exhibition, either in person or online at www.fredericremington.org, and vote once for the Public's Choice Award through Sept. 6, in the online gallery and in person at the museum shop.

The artist who created the winning work will win a framed print of Frederic Remington's painting, The Alert.

The exhibit includes 43 works of art by 34 artists and will be on display through Sept. 11. Juror Valerie Patterson selected prize winners from the art included in the show.

The 3rd place prize went to Sara E. Lynch of Potsdam for Daffodils.

Second place went to Jessie Parker of Stittsville, Ont., for Dance the Night Away.

Best in Show went to Suzan McDermott of Canton for Urbanization.

Many of the works are for sale. One third of the proceeds benefit the Frederic Remington Art Museum, and two thirds go to the artist.

The museum's next Juried Art Exhibit is this fall, the 2011 International Juried Art Exhibit, open to artists within 100 miles of Ogdensburg.
