COLTON -- For the third consecutive year, the Town of Colton’s Tourism & Beautification Committee is taking orders for “Remembrance Trees” to display in December and January.
The deadline to order and pay for trees is Friday, Oct. 28 and the cost is $33.
Sponsors can select that trees be displayed near the Colton Museum on Main Street, or in Three Falls Park at the corner of State Highway 56 and Sugar Bush Lane.
Trees will displayed after Thanksgiving and the committee will identify each with a large laminated tag naming those remembered and the sponsors.
LED lights and non-electrical decorations, garland, tinsel and non-glass ornaments will be allowed.
This year the trees will be illuminated on Friday, Dec. 9 during the Colton Historical Society’s Annual Winter Lights & Jingle Bells Event, which will begin at 6:30pm in Three Falls Park and end on Main Street.
After the lighting, the names of those remembered will be read during a reception hosted by the Society in the Town Hall.
Larry Patzwald, former town supervisor who passed away last February and supported tourism and beautification activities, will be honored.
The town will keep the lights on through Winterfest Weekend, which will take place from Jan. 26 through 29.
Order form: www.townofcolton.com, or through the Town Clerk in the Colton Town Hall on Main Street.
