MASSENA -- The Massena Central School's Class of 1981 is planning its 30th reunion and registrations so far include classmates from all corners of the country, as well as friends from other graduating classes looking to reconnect.

Reunion events start with the Mike Hazelton Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, July 1. To register to play, contact the Massena Country Club. Mike was a treasured member of the class of ‘81 and proceeds from the tournament help fund a scholarship made each year in his name.

Shortly after the golf tournament awards are handed out, the Reunion Welcome Reception will kick off at 7 p.m. at the Massena Country Club. This is an opportunity to catch up with classmates and friends.

On Saturday, July 2, beginning at 9 a.m., a "Remembering Friends: We Like 2 Walk” 5K walk will take place along the John Story Trail to remember classmates, here and gone. The event is open to anyone who enjoys walking, running and giving back. A modest entry fee will be donated to local charities and the first 35 registrants will receive a "WeLike2Walk" t-shirt. Advance registration is encouraged and forms are available on the Events Schedule page of the WeLike2Rock.com website.

Classmates can enjoy a tour of the many changes that have taken place at the high school in the past ten years. Tours will be hosted by Massena's IB students at the main entrance from 11 a.m. to noon.

From 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, class members will gather again for an indoor / outdoor barbeque bash at the Elks Club on Bowers Street. A DJ will be on hand to rock with tunes from “back in the day.” A cash bar will be available and the menu will include BBQ chicken, burgers, hotdogs, salads and treats.

Then, the Class of ‘81 Reunion will go retro from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Elks Club with Sudden Impact. Dress is summer casual. A cash bar and late night snacks are planned.

Advance registration for all events is required. If you are a member of the Class of ‘81 who hasn't yet registered, or a friend / member of another MCS class who wants to join the fun, you can find information and registration forms on the Events Schedule page at WeLike2Rock.com Or contact Patricia (Prashaw) Wilson at pwilson001@twcny.rr.com or 769-8185.
