People who want to vote in the April 19 presidential primary in New York, but are not registered, must enroll through the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections by March 25.

Registered Democrats will choose between Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former New York Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Republican voters will choose between Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, billionaire Donald Trump and Ohio Governor John Kasich.

County Board of Elections Democratic Commissioner Jennie H. Bacon, said applications for registration and enrollment in the primary must be post marked by March 25 and received March 30.

March 30 is also the last day for “change of address” to be received at the Board of Elections for processing for the April 19 election.

With the primary approaching, Bacon is reminding St. Lawrence County voters of important deadlines.

Bacon says the last day to apply by mail for absentee ballot for primary is April 12.

The Board of Elections Office will remain open until 7 p.m. April 13 for the purpose of issuing absentee ballots. The office will also be open from 9 until noon April 16 to issue absentee ballots

April 18 is the last day to deliver absentee ballot application or apply in person for an absentee ballot.

Absentee ballots for primary must reach the Board of Elections by the close of the polls on Primary Day, April 19.

However, ballots postmarked by the postal service not later than the day before election may be received until seven days after election.
