CANTON – The deadline to register to attend the Foreign Language Teaching Conference to be held at St. Lawrence University is Feb. 15.
The conference will be held March 22 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in Eben Holden.
Teachers from St. Lawrence and surrounding counties are invited to attend workshops on their specialties and share their favorite methodologies for teaching foreign languages.
By the end of this conference, teachers should have more knowledge about the following topics:
• Practical applications of technology to teaching languages and cultures
• Traditional and non-traditional ways of teaching culture
• Assessment
• Approaches to teaching proficiency (TPRS, Flipped classroom etc.)
• Technology in education
Françoise Piron and educator and presenter with extensive knowledge of the French language and culture as well as pedagogical techniques in the World Language Classroom, will be the keynote speaker.
Piron received the NYSAFLT Ruth E. Wasley Distinguished Teacher Award K-12 in 2015.
Her topic, “Building Connections,” will discuss strategies and activities that provide rich learning experiences for students.
