POTSDAM – A registered sex offender was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail Saturday for failing to register his change of address, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Scott J. Brunet, 40, was cited at 11:47 a.m. with the class E felony. He was also charged with providing a false written statement, a class A misdemeanor, deputies said.
Deputies said Brunet had been registered as living at 122 Heath Rd. but had been living at 151 Elm St. without notifying police of his change of address.
Deputies said that while Brunet had been living at 151 Elm St. he had re-registered as living at 122 Heath Rd with the sheriff’s office, which resulted in the false written statement charge.
He was arraigned in Lisbon Town Court before being jailed in lieu of $5,000 cash bond.
