Rain, snow and 55 mph wind gusts expected throughout St. Lawrence County; flood warning issued

Wind gusts could reach as high as 55 mph as temperatures drop rapidly throughout the North Country. Morning rain showers will give way to snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.

A high wind warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph will peak around noon.

Winds will be strong enough to damage trees and cause power outages.

A flood watch has also been issued across the county as ice jams are likely to result from the snowmelt.

Today: Rain showers likely before 11am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 11am and 1pm, then a chance of snow showers after 1pm. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 26 by 5pm. Windy, with a west wind 28 to 33 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
