CANTON -- A Pyrites woman was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated Wednesday after she allegedly fled the scene of an accident in which she had a child in the vehicle at the time, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Heidi H. Hitchman-Hartmann, 42, was charged with aggravated DWI: Child in vehicle, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, failure to keep right, refusal to take a breath test, no front license plate, endangering the welfare of a child and a handicap parking violation, officers said.
Hitchman-Hartmann is accused of striking a vehicle at the intersection of Pike Road and CR 27 and then fleeing the scene, deputies said.
She was located a short time later in the parking lot of Canton Central School on State Street, officers said.
There was a young child in the vehicle at the time of accident and arrest, deputies said.
Hitchman-Hartmann was arraigned in Canton court and released under the supervision of probation, deputies said.
