STOCKHOLM -- A Potsdam woman is charged with driving while intoxicated after a collision where she hit a mailbox, a ditch and ended up in Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
On Tuesday around 7:54 p.m., state police say they responded to Stockholm Knapp Station Road in Stockholm for an automobile crash.
They say their investigation revealed that a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Frances M. Stevens, 56, of Potsdam, was traveling north when her vehicle struck a mailbox at 18 Stockholm Knapp Station Rd., and further down the road, struck a ditch. Her vehicle was towed by Martin’s Towing, according to troopers.
Stevens was transported to CPH for evaluation, however she was not injured, police said.
Stevens was charged with DWI and also cited for unsafe speed, failure to maintain lane and leaving the scene of a property damage accident, police said.
She was released on tickets to appear in Town of Stockholm Court on Aug. 1 at 6 p.m., police said.
