MASSENA -- Village police say they charged a Potsdam woman with reckless driving, drug possession and child endangerment after she allegedly left the scene of a collision.
At 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, police say they charged Renaissance A. Wakefield, 35, of Potsdam with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Police say Wakefield, with an infant passenger, drove into a wall behind the Celine G. Philibert Cultural Center on Main Street and left the scene. She was arrested in the Rite Aid parking lot next door and police allegedly found her with several alprazolam pills, a generic form of Xanax.
She and the infant were treated at Massena Memorial Hospital and released, police said.
Further charges against Wakefield are pending the outcome of toxicology screening, police said.
She was cited and released with tickets for Massena court on a later date, police said.
