MASSENA -- The wife of a St. Lawrence County Sheriff's detective is jailed on a felony count for allegedly trying to sell morphine, according to Massena Police.
Michelle L. Caringi, 42, of Mackay Road, Potsdam is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, village police said.
She is the wife of St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department Detective Thomas Caringi, according to Massena Police.
She allegedly possessed morphine with intent to sell, according to documents filed with Massena Village Court.
Caringi was charged in the On A Roll Deli parking lot, the documents said.
The morphine reportedly belonged to another person who was in the car at the time of Caringi’s arrest. That person told police Caringi was, without permission, trying to sell the pills in exchange for crack cocaine, according to the documents.
Caringi was arraigned in Massena Village Court by Justice Pat Serguson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton in lieu of $3,000 bail or $6,000 bond, police said.
