POTSDAM -- The only thing 13-year-old Jonathan Thompson of Potsdam loves more than playing with his wrestlers, is watching WWE wrestling on his television whenever he can.

When Make-A-Wish Central New York had the opportunity to ask Jonathan, who has cancer, what his one wish would be, he eagerly responded with a chance to see some of his favorite WWE wrestlers fight at WrestleMania.

In April, Jonathan’s wish was granted. For five nights, the Thompson family had the chance to not only adventure around the historic areas of New Orleans, but to also attend WrestleMania 34.

Before the show, Jonathan was also able to meet some of his favorite WWE superstars, including John Cena, by participating in the private autograph signing.

When asked about their experience, the Thompsons were quick to share their gratitude.

“A million thank you’s! Although I like wrestling, my favorite part we’re all of the smiles we got to see. Thanks again!” Jonathan said.

Amy Thompson, Jonathan’s mother, added, “Thank you for making Jonathan’s wish come true! It was amazing to watch our boy smile ear to ear all week long. We will cherish these memories forever!”

WWE has been involved in wish granting since the early 1980s, beginning shortly after the founding of Make-A-Wish. The popularity of WWE has endured throughout the years and nearly 50 Superstars have granted wishes with Cena granting more than 500.
