Potsdam teen jailed for allegedly forging checks worth $2,500, stealing $600 in cash

WADDINGTON – A Potsdam teen was sent to jail in lieu of $6,000 cash bail Monday for allegedly forging and cashing $2,500 in checks and stealing $600.

According to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, Kayla M. O’Brien, 18, of 82 NYS Hwy. 345, Potsdam, was charged with felony grand larceny third degree and four counts of forgery in connection with the incident.

O’Brien allegedly stole $600 in cash and four blank checks from the residence of a family member in Waddington and forged and cashed the checks worth $2,500.

She was arraigned in Waddington Town Court and was sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $6,000 cash bail or $12,000 bail bond, deputies said.
