Potsdam students receive training from ‘Operation: Military Kids’

POTSDAM – Students at Potsdam High School recently received Ready, Set, Go! training from Operation: Military Kids.

The presentations were aimed at increasing awareness of issues facing children of military members, aspects of military culture, and the deployment cycle.

The next day, students had their pictures taken with a sign that says that they stand behind military kids.

Students from Mr. Joachim Van Ells' civics and government classes assembled 75 hero packs for local military youth. These are backpacks with mementos and items designed to help keep military kids connected with their deployed parent and will be distributed at a future Yellow Ribbon event.

Receiving credit and thanks for their involvement were Ellen MacMaster, Great Northern Printing, the UPS Store, Walmart, Operation: Military Kids, American Red Cross of Northern New York, AmeriCorps, YNN, Potsdam High School, Northern Music and Video, Potsdam Student Government, and Potsdam Central PTSA.
