POTSDAM – A 70-year-old Potsdam man was arrested and sent to county jail Saturday after he again violated an order of protection directing him to stay away from a woman he allegedly has repeatedly stalked, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies.
Marshall L. Chase, 70, 591 Bagdad Rd., was charged with second-degree criminal contempt for violating the order.
Chase was initially charged with fourth-degree stalking for an incident that reportedly occurred Oct. 21 on the roadside of State Rt. 72. Deputies said Chase followed and continuously harassed a female on three separate occasions over the period of a month.
Again, on Nov. 1, deputies charged Chase with criminal contempt for allegedly violating a stay away order of protection for the victim.
Following Saturday's arrest, Chase was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court by Justice Robert Camp and remanded to county jail in lieu of $500 cash bail.
