POTSDAM -- The Potsdam Central school board reviewed a proposed timeline for a capital project that would likely start in 2023.

The schedule is based on typical timelines, durations, and state Education Department project review times. The final schedule will be determined by the district, architect, and construction manager.

In January 2019 higher-level district long-term planning will begin.

Six months later the school will begin building condition survey inspections, surveys of district administration and staff, and development of a potential scope list.

Building Committee meetings will begin in April 2020 to refine the scope.

The board is expected to see a presentation of the project and budget in August 2020.

The next month the district and others involved will look to finalize the scope and budget.

On Oct. 29, 2020, a school board resolution would establish a referendum, SEQRA, and legal notice.

A voter referendum is tentatively planned for Dec. 15, 2020.

The beginning of design phases is slated for January 2021, with SED submissions in September 2021 and SED approval one year later.

Construction contracts bids will be accepted in December 2022 with the expectation that construction would start in May 2023.
