Potsdam police charge two with drunk driving at nearly three times legal limit

POTSDAM – Village police were kept busy St. Patrick’s Day night and early this morning, responding to drunk driving incidents where motorists recorded alcohol levels as much as three times the legal limit.

Those charged included:

• Thomas E. Anderson, 48, Parishville, aggravated DWI and passing through a red light at 6:03 p.m. Thursday on Elm Street. Police said his blood alcohol was .26 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08 percent.

• Rebecca N. Coffey, 23, Canton, aggravated DWI and a lane change violation at 2:41 a.m. Friday on Maple Street. Police said she was stopped after they observed her crossing the white hazard marking multiple times. Her blood alcohol level was .19 percent, police said.

• Courtney L. Sheridan, 20, Potsdam, was cited for an open container violation at 1:24 a.m. Friday in the alley between the former inner Sole and the Isle of You on Market Street after she was observed holding a clear plastic cup. She was also issued a warning for littering and underage alcohol possession, police said.
