POTSDAM -- A Potsdam man is being held on $10,000 bail after St. Lawrence County Sheriff's detectives say he had a sexual encounter with a person under the age of 17.

Christopher P. McDonald, 40, of May Road, Potsdam, was charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies accuse McDonald of having a sexual encounter with a person under the age of 17 at a Potsdam residence in June or July, and again in September of 2011.

Deputies say McDonald allegedly supplied alcoholic beverages to the same victim on both occaisions.

McDonald was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
